Teen admits role in slayings of 2 boys

FONDA, N.Y. (AP) - The second of two teenage boys has admitted killing two other teens in upstate New York.

Suspected burglar sends text while running from police

“I am outrunning the police, come get me!” was the text message police say a burglar sent a friend while running from troopers in Cobleskill.

Police received a call for a burglary at 113 Baldwin Rd. in the Town of Summit Friday just after 9 p.m. A witness told police two men fled the scene in a dark green pickup that was later spotted traveling along Rt. 10.

Troopers say the driver parked the truck in the area of the Old Summit Country Store and the two suspects, 36-year-old Wayne Swart of Hobart and 18-year-old Devyn Clum of Bloomville, fled on foot. That’s when police say Clum sent the text message to a friend stating that he was running from the police and needed to be picked up.

Officials say Clum was caught first, while Swart was located some time later with the help of DEC Officer Keith Isles and his K-9. After searching the vehicle, police discovered equipment used to break into buildings.

Homeless man charged after selling guns stolen in burglaries

GLOVERSVILLE - A homeless man is facing charges that he stole rifles, shotguns, and handguns from various homes - and then resold the guns to gun stores and private citizens.

24-year-old Tim Belden also allegedly stole checks, and then cashed them.

Police arrested Belden Monday after he was accused of not paying a cab fare.

The long guns Belden allegedly stole have been recovered, but police are still searching for the missing handguns.

Detectives expect to also arrest several alleged accomplices.

50 pit bulls seized after investigation

MINDEN– The Montgomery County Sheriffs Department, Fort Plain Police and New York State Police have seized more than 50 pit bulls after receiving numerous complaints over the last several days.

During the investigation officials found the animals living in deplorable conditions in a barn on Route 5S.

According to state police the barn was unheated, exposed to the elements and the water was frozen. A deceased animal as well as fecal matter were also present.

All of the dogs removed were examined by a veterinarian. Many of the dogs suffered from frostbite, open sores and worms.

Police are still investigating. No arrests have been made.

Gloversville PD seeks robbery and assault suspects

GLOVERSVILLE - Authorities in Gloversville are seeking any information about the persons suspected of assaulting and robbing a woman around 5 a.m.

Police have released a photo of the people they're looking for.

The attack happened along the rail trail near the animal shelter between West Pine and West Fulton streets.

State Police uncover a mobile meth lab

State Police stop a car in Fulton County, and find a meth lab inside. It happened on State Route 349 in Mayfield, early Saturday morning.

Man charged with murdering couple in Amsterdam

AMSTERDAM - A suspect has now been charged with murdering a man and woman in Amsterdam.

Thirty-year-old Ivan Ramos was indicted Friday in the stabbing deaths of Cheryl Goss and William McDermott.

Goss and McDermott were found dead in an apartment building in March.

Ramos has been in custody since then on unrelated charges.
