RICHMONDVILLE – On Saturday, March 23, Assemblyman Pete Lopez will attend a benefit for Literacy New York.
In a statement to NewsChannel 13, Assemblyman Lopez said he is excited to participate and support literacy.
"I love the literacy volunteers, and I love Scrabble," Lopez said.
Lopez has been a sposor of this event for several years as a member of the Legislative Linguists. This year his team has merged with the Dam Concerned Citizens to form the Dam Concerned Legilative Linguists.
The Dam Concerned Citizens are a group focused on the flooding in the Schoharie Valley.
"I'm looking forward to us melding our minds on seven letter words to get that triple word score," Lopez said.
The Scrabble Tournament will be held at 8:30 a.m. at the Radez School.
Money raised will benefit schools in Fulton, Montgomery, and Schoharie Counties.
