FULTON COUNTY – The Fulton County Chamber is accepting scholarship applications for local students.

The deadline for these applications is April 5th  at 5pm.

The applications are available from their guidance counselor, at the Chamber office or here.

LATHAM - The President of the New York State United Teachers said parents should expect their children to do worse on next month's standardized tests.

"There's going to be a test score and it's going to be an inaccurate rating of your child's ability," said Richard Iannuzzi, of NYSUT.

Oppenheim-Ephratah, St. Johnsville Board of Education election postponed

 

ST. JOHNSVILLE— In response to tomorrow’s weather forecast, the New York State Education Department has postponed the Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Board of Education election that was scheduled for Tuesday, March 19.

The state is currently working on rescheduling the election.

More information will be released as soon as it is available.

Local airman graduates basic combat training

 

GLOVERSVILLE - Army Pfc. James D. Hayner has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

He is the son of Jerry Hayner of Forest Street, Gloversville, and Leslie Pollak of Sacandaga Road, Johnstown.

Hayner graduated in 2008 from Gloversville High School.

JOHNSTOWN - Johnstown High School is once again holding a Young Entrepreneurs Academy on Tuesday, Feb. 26.

They are looking for interested business people to attend a Business Expo on Tuesday, February 26 from11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Local airman graduates basic military training

Local airman graduates basic military training

 

FULTONVILLE - Air National Guard Airman Shayne J. Boehlke graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Boehlke is the son of Keith and Karen Boehlke of Humphrey Road, Fultonville.

He is a 2012 graduate of Fonda-Fultonville High School.
